Chez moi!

Oh hey, I’ve promised a tour of my home when we moved in, so here it is – better late than never, right?

Our home is a top floor unit in a 3-level-Victorian building in the Lower Haight/ Hayes neighborhood in San Francisco. We were very lucky to find this flat, it’s pretty spacious in SF standards and it has a huge bonus : it’s under rent control law, which means that we won’t see huge surges in rental prices at lease renewal time, like in our previous rental. It also has a small patio, neglected by the previous tenants, where I added lots of potted plants, a table, some chairs and an umbrella, and where we spend a lot of time as a family.

I love the period features of this home, the victorian moldings, the wooden floors that have been painted a jet black and the ceiling height.

  1. What a beautiful place full of light!! The wallpaper.. what a statement.. well done))) The painting of your daughter is so beautiful!! So talented girl))) I wish you and your family a lot of happiness in this new home. Thanks for sharing your space)))

      1. Yes, way overdue. Olive is back to school on Tuesday and my schedule will free up a little. Let me know what works for you, and Kiana.

    1. I agree @Lindsey, but I also believe in the power of color. Adding a striking color to contrast also works wonders, espeically when the rest of the walls are white, don’t you think? Xx-

    1. Thank you @Kelly, glad you like it, and yes, Inès’s artistic skills are amazing – don’t know where she got them from, my husband and I only draw stick men :)

  2. What a lovely and serene home, Si; you have created a quiet sanctuary within the sea of chaos and people that San Francisco has become.

Last February my husband and I returned to the city for the funeral of his sister. We were shocked and saddened to see how congested and smoggy it was (actually how much so the entire state had become). So seeing your home is literally a breath of fresh air, as is your daughter’s art.

    Cheers, Ardith

    1. Oh, thank you @Ardith. I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending love your way.

  3. in all seriousness, is your daughter planning to sell some of her artwork? i’d love to buy something before she is “discovered.” + the new pad is fabulous.

    1. Funny you ask, many instagramers asked as well, and she’s considering it – if it doesn’t conflict with her studying as school starts soon. Inès loves to paint as a stress reliever, and I asked her if she’d be interested in selling her art. I may open an Easy shop for her with a few of her artworks, I’ll keep you posted. Thank you for your kind words, @Jilly.

  4. Your home looks great, filled with light, and a strong sense of your identity! I wish you all the best for your family in your new home!
