For Christmas, I accidentally came up with a genius idea. I gifted Mister with a “mixologist bar station”: he travels a lot for work, and one of his hobbies is to try a new cocktail wherever he can around the globe. He chats with mixologists every time we go out and has recently developed a strong interest for in-house cocktail making. So it got me thinking…
A fancy cocktail with Mister, on our patio, with Daisy by our side, listening to some chill music… This beats the waiting lines and loud music I often complain about when we dine out in the city.
So, I repurposed our vintage sideboard into a bar station.
It’s definitely the gift that keeps on giving. Want a cocktail, honey? Sure!
He now prepares his own herb or spice infused simple syrups and I get to be the guinea-pig of delicious potions! A win-win, I tell you!
Ok, now to the recipe.
You will need:
- ⅓ cup freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice
- 3 tablespoons of gin
- ¼ cup of Perrier or seltzer
- 2 teaspoons of sugar
- a few thyme leaves
- pink grapefruit slice and thyme sprig for serving, optional
Muddle the thyme leaves, and add them to the sugar and the gin in a shaker. Add the freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice and the ice. Shake vigorously. Pour the mix to fill the glasses halfway, then top with seltzer.
Optional : decorate your glass with a pink grapefruit slice on a bamboo knot pick and add a few thyme sprigs for a fresh Spring look! Santé! Xo, Si-
