I’ve been meaning to post pictures of this project here for a while, but when Spring hit last week, I knew the timing was simply perfect.
While vacationing in Marrakech – and visiting the neighboring town of Essaouira – with my friend Kiana and her family, we decided to shoot one of her bouquets by asking random strangers in the streets if they would kindly pose for the camera.
It was such a fun and spontaneous shoot, and we laughed all morning.
I love these shots and the expressions of the subjects portrayed. As soon as they started holding this pink bouquet, their face enlightened in front of our very eyes; vendors were applauding, teasing; we literally created a little and fun chaotic scene in the Medina, we got a few no’s – totally understandable, but many applauded the idea. There is so much humanity in these shots. It’s amazing how flowers change the mood and bring the best in us, don’t you think? I think I’ll print a few of these and place them en-enfilade on my hallway wall so I am always reminded that there is still so much beauty and humanity left in this world.
