Oh hey, it’s the weekend, and a long one! In honor of Labor Day weekend and the last few weeks of summer we have left, I teamed up with my dear friend, and talented floral designer, Kiana Underwood from Tulipina for a floral session. Dahlia season is at its peak, and we got together to dress up my vintage ladder – it’s actually an olive picking ladder that I scored at a Provence flea market for ten years ago. After some extensive sanding and TLC, my ladder has been following me around the world during our intercontinental moves, and it holds a special place in my heart. Kiana spotted it in my home last weekend, and got inspired to create beauty with it. So here is the making of a (very) happy dahlia ladder!
Aren’t these dahlias AH-MA-ZING? Kiana visited Santa Cruz Dahlias, a lovely organic dahlia farm run by Kristine Albrecht in Santa Cruz, and brought a few specimens back to her studio. Then, we both let our creativity out and even added a wedding dress Kiana had in consignment at her studio for an upcoming photoshoot.
Now that’s a happy ladder, isn’t it?
Wishing you a lovely and color-filled Labor Day weekend, sweet friends! Xo, Si-
