Then Shutterfly reached out and told me about their new home decor collection, and the infinite gifting possibilities they offer. Did you know that you can print almost anything – whether it’s a family photo, a print, or a quote – on pretty much anything, like candles, pillows, holiday ornaments, mugs, or totes to name a few? I myself had no idea! So I tried it out and did some of my holiday shopping with Shutterfly…
I got Shutterfly to print a few 2016 photo gallery wall calendars with a selection of quotes picked from the blog, and Inès, my oldest daughter and I, had fun choosing each quote to fit every month of the year : A Frida Kahlo quote about flowers for the month of September, a quote about love for February, a quote about vacation for the month of July etc… I chose to keep the calendar very minimalist because it is a gift for the blog’s collaborators and for some friends who have minimalist interiors.
For my sister, who is a small business entrepreneur, and just had a baby less than 3 months ago, I had Shutterfly print a “Boss Lady” ceramic mug. My sister is all into minimalist and scandi design [we visited her DC home a few weeks ago here on the blog] and I think she’ll love to display her morning coffee mug on her office desk and get reminded that she rocks whenever she takes a sip of coffee.
For my mom, who enjoys farmers’ markets and goes out 3 times a week to get fresh produce in her neighborhood, I created a “Local is the new Black” reusable shopping bag that can fit into her purse when folded and comes handy when she shops.
For my dear friend Carla, a true fashionista, I had so much fun printing a “Saving for my Birkin bag” reusable shopping bag because everyone always makes fun of her expensive taste and her spending habits. I can hardly wait to see her face when she opens her gift!
And for hubby, who is a true workaholic and decided in the latter part of 2015 to take care of his stress levels and live a healthier life – he’s been taking miss Daisy out for long walks either before work or comes home earlier for an end-of-day stress free walk with her, I got him a “Slow is the new fast” oversized ceramic mug.
What about myself, you will ask. Because in 2016 I’m planning on continuing to be more laser focused, and think strategically for my small business – we talked about this a few weeks ago – I got myself a “Goal Digger” wall calendar poster for my office.
