A bright and rustic home in Norway

12.06.2017

Marte and Steiner live in this detached house on Nordstrand, in Oslo, with their kids. When the family moved into the house, it consisted of many small rooms and yellowed pine boards on the floors. The family spent a whole winter brushing it up and letting the natural light takeover : floors were painted white, walls were taken down to increase the volumes and natural flow. I love Marte’s style : warm and laid back, thanks to the use of soft brown and earthy tones. For the holidays, Marte’s favorite time of the year, she loves to decorate with green twigs, natural materials and stars in the windows to add some holiday magic.

This space has a “fluid” quality from all the “ink stains” that kind of stays with you and draws you into it. My only hiccup is the diamond shaped Moroccan style rug that I’ve seen one time too many. I would prefer something a little more imaginative, more bold to give it a little staccato beat! But then again that’s just an opinion…:)
