A charming family home in Copenhagen

03.02.2017

When Helle, Alrum boutique owner, and René, IT consultant, found this 84-square-meter Copenhagen apartment, they instantly knew it had the bones and potential for the perfect family home. Using color, photography, and industrial and thrifted elements, they have created a cosy space full of charm and personality.

Helle has a simple interior design rule : if it hasn’t been touched in a while, it needs to go – this simple rule allowed the family to scale down on decor elements and furniture, but Helle is an avid collector of Buddha figures and objects that she brought back from her travels in India, Burma, Nepal and Morocco.

And then there is the kitchen and its glorious green wall. By adding color, a thrifted wall storage cabinet stained in a dark wood tone, a barn window and a couple of Lampe Gras wall sconces, the kitchen became the heart of the home – and by far, my favorite element of this beautiful family home.

I love everything in there house!! I love that color pop wall in very natural and bright color. I have a question… how do you choose between different finish of painting… i think there us mate color?

There are many finishes of paint that I know of : mat, flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, gloss, extra-gloss, etc… I tend to use flat because it gives a mat finish, but it’s washable. And I use eggshell finish in kitchens or hallways because you can more easily wipe off fingerprints without taking out the wall with you – which happens with total mat finish. I hope this helps @Clara! Xx-
