Cabo San Lucas – Part I

02.21.2017

Hey, ho. I’m a bit late posting today, but that’s because I’ve been busy editing the 100+ pictures of our dream escape to Cabo San Lucas. Talk about a dream vacation : this escape trip was above and beyond anything we could have hoped for, from the weather, to the aesthetic of the Paradisus resort we stayed at, or the people we met there. This is part I of my journey, because otherwise, this post would have had more than 40 pictures.

We stayed at Paradisus Los Cabos and had a Royal Service ocean view suite. The room was spacious, the bedding was of excellent quality and I slept like a baby [no back pain in the morning, which is usually the case for me when I travel and my back is begging for the comfort of my own bed]. The Paradisus resort is all inclusive, but quite different from the other all-inclusive resorts we had stayed at in the past : the quality of food was above and beyond our expectations. The resort had plenty of restaurants to choose from, from Mexican cuisine, to Japanese or salad bars with small tapas style bites, à-la-carte entrées and dessert bar. The drinks were also really good and the margaritas and cocktails were made on demand, and not using pre-made or cheap mixes [which is sadly usually the case in all-inclusive resorts]. We were really impressed by the overall quality of the food, and the service was irreproachable.

The setting of the hotel was spectacular : private beach, horseback riding sessions – Tigro kindly accepted to pose for me ;-) – and an infinity of blue and sea as far as the eyes could see – we could even spot some whales while sun bathing from the pool deck.

On our second day, we ventured outside of the resort to visit the city nearby : Cabo San Lucas. We took the public bus like the locals [56 pesos round trip from the resort] and people on the bus were super sweet and a few of them made sure we wouldn’t miss our stop at the Marina area. We loved the little streets in Cabo, where we met Margarita, a local vendor whom I bought a couple of lovely embroidered tops from, for Inès and myself.

We randomly came across this small café – the fuschia door made me stop on my tracks. The inside of the café was so welcoming and typical, we absolutely adored the vibe there.

Back to the Paradisus resort where I played the paparazzo non stop – hubby was super patient with me thankfully. The beach scenery was by far my favorite. The beach hat vendors and their peculiar attires, piling up hats for sale on top of their heads were quite a scene. Every morning, one of the resort employees would rake the beach and write love messages on the sand {Carla y George} – I’m guessing for newly weds on their honeymoons.

On the next blog post [part II], I’ll share with you our sea expedition to El Arco [the famous Arch and lovers’ beach] as well as the amazing encounter with a humpback whale that I was able to capture on camera as well as on video. A truly magical moment. Stay tuned, I’ll share the second part of the trip very soon. Xo, amigos, Si-

Killer photos, Si!!!! Cabo looks delicious through your lens especially with the rainfall we’re having here in the peninsula (she says seated at her desk wrapped in a scarf with big wooly slippers on!) xo
