Hey there, are you ready for another exclusive yummy San Francisco tour? Welcome to Tartine Manufactory, a freshly opened foodies’ spot in the Mission district. You are most likely already familiar with the legendary Tartine Bakery, located on Guerrero street in San Francisco, but this new and much larger space just opened last week in the Heath building, on the corner of 18th Street and Alabama streets.
Guests can order pastries as well as breakfast and lunch items from a central counter and then take a seat in the airy dining room. There is also a separate station for those who just want a simple pastry and espresso drink and a separate bar. A Cookies & Cream ice cream stand is set to open in a few weeks, and dinner will follow eventually as well.
Expect long lines before being able to order, because the place attracts a lot of San Franciscans, but the food and mood of the space is worth the wait : we ordered a couple of warm sandwiches [we got the eggplant and stracciatella as well as the ham and cheese one], a gâteau basque [with Meyer lemon and blackberry] and a crème caramel – and I can tell you that this old fashioned crème caramel was the best I had had in a long time. The industrial building features [wood and metal beams, metal pipes and industrial windows], concrete floors and wood elements all around make this SF spot a feast for the eyes as well.
Tartine Manufactory is located at 595 Alabama Street, San Francisco, CA 94110 – current hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
