I’ll take mine black

Love me a striking black facade. They may not be the best choices for homes in warm weather and hot summers, which is why we see so many in colder-weather countries like Scandinavia or the northern part of countries, but don’t they look oh, so very good? In a perfect world, I’d have a black facade home, wouldn’t be worried about sun rays fading out the strong contrast and paint pigments [aka having to repaint my facade every other year], or my air conditioning bill! But let’s just pretend, because the beauty of blogland is that we can pretend.

I love how these dark facades bring the nature and greenery out; what a striking effect!

Would you paint your facade black?

One of my favorites was on Apartment Therapy: look for Chris & Roger’s Vivacious Victorian in Upstate New York (though I googled apartment therapy black house pink car and found it).
I love black, but it would never work here in the south of France.

I just painted my Queen Anne nearly black (its a very very dark blue called Napoleon) with cream trim. It is a huge change from the white and cream it had before. And yet it somehow looks like it has always been that color, like it WANTED to be a dark house all this time.

How beautiful your home is. It blends into the background so well and you painted it my favorite color. Very nice. Great job

I painted mine black last fall. I LOVE it. Black is perfect for Minnesota–it looks so good against a blanket of white snow.
