So… where the heck is this blog going?

09.22.2015

I know that you’ve been wondering, because I’ve been wondering the same thing : where the heck is this blog going?

When I started blogging 6 years ago, I wanted to keep a digital file of all the interiors that inspired me. I also owned a tiny vintage shop. The blog stayed focused on interior design mainly, and I was super camera shy and very private about myself and my loved ones. As I mentioned a few months ago, opening up a bit on this blog has been very therapeutic for me. I don’t know if it’s an age related thing, but I feel comfortable in my shoes entering my 40s.

Anyway, this blog is evolving with me as a person. For the longest time, I was curating pictures from other photographers and I was thrilled with finding the never-before-seen interior of the week, or reposting already published content, and I was ok with that. But with Pinterest and the quantity of images we all see on a daily basis, I feel like blogging about curated content found on Pinterest is not hitting the spot for me anymore. And I don’t feel like this is the right path for my blog. I want to share more with you, whether it’s my home, my family, my recipes, my fashion style and finds, anything that affects me as a person and makes me who I am. I am also having a lot of fun styling and directing photo shoots, creating new original content, both with talented photographers or by developing my own photography skills.

Interior design is and will remain the niche theme of this blog, and I’ll still post house tours and inspirational pictures on this blog – but only if they hit the ‘oh-la-la, j’adore’  and ‘never-seen-before-new-idea’ spot for me, like the one I posted yesterday for example; but during my summer break, I spent a lot of time thinking about where I want this blog to go. I want this blog to be my voice, my soul, my life journal. I want my girls to be able to go back to this blog when I’m not blogging anymore and find pieces of me, of us.

I hope I’ll handle this transition as smoothly as possible. I still love interior design and always will; interior design will always be the ‘niche’ and core topic of this blog. But the change has already started happening, without a conscious effort of my part. I post many inspirational pictures on my Pinterest boards on a daily basis, and will keep updating my feed there, but this blog is evolving with me, and I hope you’re part of my blogging journey. Xo, Si-

Xo-

Yes, yes and yes to being more personal and original. I’ve stopped following many blogs in the past few months, because they… all look like magazines, with the same interiors, often seen 5 times across different blogs on the same day.
I love that you take the time to pause in your journey to think and ponder over the path you want for your blog, and I’ve really been enjoying your more ‘personal’ posts lately. Keep on rocking, Si!

I think it´s a great decision. As Rebecca said it´s tiring see the same interior again and again in so many blogs.
    Ánimo!

Good for you! I love the sound of this new direction — you have such excellent taste and I can’t wait to experience more of it!

Si, this is your blog, your voice, so it needs to go in whichever direction you choose. What will always remain is your unique style, eye for beauty, and singular classy vision. I, for one, await this and any future transformation. Cheers, Ardith

I’m happy to see that your blog is evolving with a more personal touch. The same thing is happening for Garance Dore’s blog, which I love. Thank you for all your musings, inspirations, and genuine moments of cheer and trepidation.

I have the same feeling so I understand you completely. But don’t be afraid and embrace the change cause I sure will keep following this amazing lovely blog of yours. Keep it up Si :)

I’m pleased to read this, because it shows that you’re wanting to evolve (or the blog to evolve with you). It’s not enough, both from a blogging and personal perspective to recycle content any more-it’s the personal side that people want to connect with. And I love that you want it to be a sort of digital legacy for your family too, that’s so very special. xx

I have to say it is perfect decision, Si. My fingers are crossed for you! And I am really happy how the blog is evolving last months, it is more personal which is something I completely adore on blogs, it makes me somehow to connect with the author and go deeper into her/his feelings.

As for near-daily reader for four years, I was initially drawn to your blog for its dedication to quality-over-quantity, although I am also delighted and amazed by your ability to post so consistently. Your conscientious attention to detail is taking you to new places and spaces, and while I initally missed the daily interiors, I’ve grown to thoroughly enjoy the blog’s steady movement toward posts that are even more authentic, more you.
Thanks for being an enriching part of my daily routine. I look forward to sharing in your continued joie de vivre, in any way you choose to share.

Hi Si, I’ve really been enjoying this transition and it’s definitely a right one. You were one of the first to curate and you did (do) it well but you’re right, there’s too many blogs doing that now. Love what you did and love what you’re doing now, it makes sense:) Mel xx

Congratulations on this new chapter in your blogging journey :)
I think most blogs slowly evolve with time, just like we as human beings change as well – due to different experiences and such.
I’m sure you’ll do great with your future endeavors as well! :D You’re already curating such amazing interior design/inspirational content, so it’ll now just be a little more up close and personal <3
Can't wait to see more on your awesome blog!
