10 reasons to love returning home from your trip

Hey there! I’m back from my Euro trip and while I had the most fabulous time abroad – more on that soon – I’m also very glad to be home. While reflecting on this wonderful feeling of being back home, I compiled a list of things I enjoy the most when I return from a long trip.

10 Things to enjoy when returning from a long trip | FrenchByDesign

What is the best part of returning from vacation for you? What do you enjoy the most?

Here are my top 10 favorite things:

  1. Using your own coffee machine
  2. Drinking your morning coffee from your favorite coffee mug
  3. Having your entire wardrobe [and shoes] available again – because wearing the same clothes and shoes for 3 weeks is not fun by the third week!
  4. No longer living in your suitcase and computer bag. Oh, and that wifi that automatically connects, bliss!
  5. Sleeping in your own bed
  6. Catching up with your favorite on-demand TV shows
  7. Taking a long shower in your bathroom, with all your creams and products, and putting on a bathrobe before getting dressed
  8. Lighting up your favorite candle – you know, the one that smells like home!
  9. Being reunited with your pet or furry friend – We missed Miss Daisy so, so bad!
  10. Unpacking your travel treasures and goodies.

It sounds simple and silly, but these simple things make me so happy to be back “chez moi“. You know, that feeling of being finally home, where you belong after all. Now, if I could only get rid of this darn jet lag… Cheers, Si-

Haha, I agree with most of these, but I have to say, sleeping in my own bed is my favorite part of returning from a trip. Glad you’re back! xox-

Lovely post! It’s so great to go away to a different place and take something back with you when you return home, be it inspiration, or a few new purchases! I totally agree about it being blissful to get home though and feel super comfortable in your own environment – no matter how fun your trip was! :) x

Haha totally agree with everything you listed! :)
Vacations are fun, but nothing quite compares to home and sleeping/showering in your own space <3

Of course, for me number 9 it’s the most important! I always miss a lot my cat Kibou when I’m away from home. Did you enjoy Barcelona? Regards

    • French By Design

Absolutely adored Barcelona! Such a vibrant city and nice people. 4 days were clearly not enough. Hello to Kibou from Daisy! Xx-

You nailed it! Coming home is always so so wonderful!! Please tell us everything about Barcelona! It’s at the top of next summer’s travel list. Thanks for everything!!

Oh my goodness! I literally just got home late last night from a crazy trip to multiple states, and I just nodded my head along to each of these because I was thinking each one of these as I went through my day today.

Love your list…it is the simple things that we take for granted. Your post reminds me of the end of the Frank Sinatra song. It is Nice to Go Trav’lin where he sings… It’s oh, so nice to go trav’lin’
But it’s so much nicer, yes, it’s so much nicer to come home. :-)

Oh, that’s awesome! I’ve never heard of this song. I will have to check it out! Thanks for the tip! Xx-

#5 and #7 are definitely very true for me. I miss my bed and shower the most when I am away on long vacations!

I totally agree with most of your list but, the one that actually surprised me the most was wearing the same clothes! We were in Europe for about a month and a half and boy did I get tired of those clothes. So much so that I don’t even wear many of the ones I took even today, they were that done! Lol
