My Tokyo trip

I took so many shots during my Tokyo trip, it took me forever to sort them out and pick the ones for this post. Some of you already followed my trip highlights on Instagram, but others asked me to share pictures of my trip here on the blog.

I absolutely adored Japan. I was expecting it to be magical, but it was more than that. Tokyo is such a unique city, from the bustling and crowded neighborhoods [and when I mean crowded, I mean A LOT of people, like Pre-Christmas shopping malls…] to the zen green spots throughout the city.

In contrast, I was amazed by the beauty of nature, and how calming and relaxing it was to just pause, reflect on things, unplug and literally stop the clock. That’s Tokyo for you, from one street block to another, you get from the mega crowd to a haven of peace.

I also adored the culture, from the food to the traditional costumes spotted at temples and shrines.

Amazing traditional outfits at the Meiji Shrine. During my visit there, I was able to witness a wedding ceremony.

My feet and legs were exhausted – according to my Fitbit, I walked more than 20,000 steps a day – but I came back enchanted and eager to go back to show my girls this wonderful country.

  1. I’ve been waiting for who knows how long for these photos as I knew they’d be beautiful – I wasn’t disappointed! I love the way they’re taken, they look so artistic and capture the city’s vibe so perfectly (you’ve got to let me in on your editing secrets!). Although I’ve never been to Japan, it’s top of my travel wish list and all the recent blog posts from various others who’ve been have only fuelled my wanderlust. There’s a Tokyo-shaped hole in my heart, I tell you! Hope you had an amazing time, wonderful to see you visited some of the less touristy areas as I feel those don’t necessarily represent the authentic Japan.
