9 alternative Christmas tree ideas

11.18.2014

Back by popular demand is the yearly round up of needle-less christmas tree ideas. From the usual leafless branches, to cut out triangle wooden shapes covered with marbled wallpaper, here is my selection of favorite christmas trees that actually don’t use a tree.

Which one sings to your heart?

Yaaaaay, I have exactly the same idea for post on my blog in my head for about two months..I hope you’ll be not angry about it ^_^ (I’ll be posting it in two weeks..)
And I am voting for photos 2d and 5. And you know what? The No.1 and 2d are on my picks I choose for the post too =D
I am very into these alternatives but because of tradition, we will have a small green tree in a pot again this year..

    Have a nice afternoon,
    Michael

I always have to laugh a bit when people become all sentimental about their christmas tree and having to throw it out after christmas (most of them eating meat), I mean it’s not like they apologize to their broccoli before eating it, which -in my mind- is pretty similar. It might even be good for the environment because trees store CO2. And they give a wonderful scent.
    Anyhow, have a wonderful day!

These options are not meant to demonize the use of real Christmas trees, but rather to give options to people that are not into the traditional Christmas decor. Have a great day as well, Simone!

I’m sorry you’re right. It is just something I run into every year discussing christmas-trees, me defending us buying a real tree (with roots so it does not loose all it’s needles so fast). The pictures are really beautiful.

Oh, no apologies needed! I totally understand you wanting to have the real Christmas tree experience. Every year, I vote for an alternative option, but my girls love a real Christmas tree, so my vote doesn’t always win ;) Don’t explain or defend yourself. Christmas is about family tradition and feeling good. If your friends see differently, so be it! Enjoy the holiday season Simone!

Our house is tiny and with two kiddies, there’s no room left for a Christmas tree, so this is definitely something I’ll dig into.
    Thanks for the ideas!

    Hi Si,

My friend and local San Francisco-based artist, Carrie Leeb, makes and sells these lovely Scandinavian looking Re:Trees. My favorite is the tabletop size for those who live in smaller spaces! Check it out: http://www.retreejoy.com/

I love these! My mom has very limited space but always wants a tree. These are perfect for her! Thanks for the ideas!
